All fans of the cat family have repeatedly heard about the breed of Siamese cats, but not everyone knows about the variety of different cats of this origin. For example, a Siamese longhair cat, also called Balinese, has its own history, character traits and rules for grooming.
The homeland of the Siamese is considered the United States. There, for the first time, a Siamese longhair cat was bred. It is believed by specialists that the birth of such kittens was a consequence of a gene mutation, therefore, at first they were considered defective. But after some time, California specialists began breeding animals. And only in 1984 did the world organization recognize the Balinese breed as independent.
The appearance and nature of cats
At its core, a long-haired cat of the Siamese breed differs from a short-haired cat only in the length of its hair. All other characteristics are one-on-one similar to the well-known characteristics of the Siamese breed, which can easily be seen even in the photo:
- wedge-shaped head, medium in size;
- large ears;
- medium sized blue eyes
- long, slender neck;
- legs are proportional to the body, but the front legs are slightly shorter than the rear;
- a long tail that gradually tapers towards the end;
- the color is the same for each member of the breed.
Behavior and character
Even when the animal is a kitten, it is distinguished by gentleness, increased sociability and reasonableness, which is manifested in the fulfillment of a large number of requests and orders of the owners. Almost immediately, an interesting and lasting contact with the owners arises, they like to be aware of what is happening to them and what the owners are doing at one time or another.
Such fluffy animals need from their roommates an increased level of care. They can easily find a common language with other cats, regardless of breed or origin. There are cases when Balinese cohabited with dogs and even snakes. Interesting videos and photos of Siamese longhair cats, which will demonstrate their appearance and temperament as best as possible, can be seen on the Internet.
Proper Siamese Care
It is not surprising that longhair cats are popular among single people or those who are willing to devote a lot of free time to their pets. They need special care. Animal hair, although similar at first glance to the fur of Persian cats, does not require special care.
However, after bathing, owners are not recommended to use a hairdryer, as fragile villi can easily be damaged.
For them, as for all representatives of the cat family, it is advisable to buy a fingernail, the price of which, just does not hit the owner’s pocket.
It is advisable not to let the longhair Siamese kitten alone. Oriental origin and the ancient way of home maintenance makes them vulnerable to diseases and viruses.
